About the Book

Fred Mitchell was among those who died when the passenger jet on which he was flying crashed on its way to New Delhi. The pilot’s last message was, “Climbing on track”.

He was chairman of the internationally known Keswick Convention and one of the speakers and the Home Director of the China Inland Mission, now the OMF.

But the first 45 years of his life were similar to that of thousands of other self-made, moderately successful businessmen. ‘From village school to chemist shop’ would have been an appropriate summing up of his life. When unexpected, unsought prominence came, he just went on walking with God and climbing steadily on track.

This up-dated and revised edition of Phyllis Thompson’s biography presents a new generation with the challenge to be willing to serve God at “home” or overseas, wherever He may lead.

A new section gives a brief overview of the OMF’s different ministries in several Asian countries.

“Fred Mitchell is an example of how God can use a very ‘ordinary’ person who is totally dedicated to Him.” Josh Kinghorn (OMF)
